Zacharias Doxastakis, Mayor of Hersonissos
Zacharias Doxastakis was Mayor of the Municipality of Hersonissos from 2010 to 2014.
He has served as Deputy Regional Governor of Crete in the Administration and Organization Sector, Full Member of the Committee on Environment and Spatial Planning and Regional Councilor of Heraklion.Born in 1959 in Hersonissos, Heraklion, he is married and has three children.
He is a graduate of Panteion University of the Athens School of Political Sciences, a graduate of ASTE, Department of Tourism Business and a graduate of the School of Law, Economics and Political Sciences of the University of Athens. Business activity City Manager of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games in the Olympic city of Heraklion in the years 2003 - 2004, Special Advisor to the Mayor of Heraklion, Crete from 2005 to 2010. Rich writing activity on: Organization and Operation of the Municipal Police, Administrative Procedure - Administrative Procedure - Urban Planning Legislation, New Community and Municipal Code, Institutional and Financial Issues of Local Government and Tourism Development.
He has served as President of the Community of Hersonissos Port from 1986 to 1998 and Mayor of the Municipality of Hersonissos from 1999 to 2002. Leader of the "Municipal Cooperation" faction and Municipal Councilor of the Municipality of Hersonissos from 2003 to 2010. Elected member of the Board of Directors of the Central Union of Municipalities and Communities for the period from 1995 to 2006.President of the permanent Committee of Institutions of KEDKE from 1995 to 2006 and representative of KEDKE as a member of the three-member Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Tourism from 2004 to 2006.Elected member of the Board of Directors of the Local Union of Municipalities and Communities of Heraklion from 1991 to 2006 and Vice-President of the Union. He developed a rich self-governing activity as a member of the Boards of Directors of bodies at local and national level.
